Don't Kill Your Ego (Make It Stronger Instead)

You need a stronger ego, not ego death.

The immature ego is fickle and incoherent, but the truly mature adult ego is capable of integrating the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your identity as a unified whole.

The mature ego is a synthesising force: it allows you to experience a coherent version of reality by structuring your values, beliefs and perceptions.

Ultimately, the mature ego is what makes the difference between feeling whole and feeling fragmented in your self identity.

Never forget that your humanity is beautiful, and you shouldn't attempt to escape what makes you human - don’t attempt to bypass your ego while chasing the path of self transcendence.

Dismissing your ego-nature makes you susceptible to being carelessly carried away with novel spiritual experiences or temporary egoless states which easily results in paranoid tendencies and delusional thinking.

I'm not saying that all spiritual people are delusional because I likewise appreciate the allure of the mystical, but permanent self-transcendence cannot be the ultimate aspiration for spiritual growth at this time in your life.

Many people are caught in the unfortunate belief that they can eventually exist in a permanently enlightened state of consciousness, but this kind of thinking is fundamentally inflated.

Spiritual bypassing and spiritual grandiosity is the common result of chasing ego death, and this unconscious path can be particularly enchanting for people with dissociative tendencies and I know because I’ve been there myself.

Ascending into the heavens isn't enlightenment: it's a slippery slope towards fragmentation and spiritual grandiosity unless you have a firm rooting in everyday reality.

Inflated spiritual beliefs cannot sustain the background pressure of unresolved childhood trauma and character inconsistencies in your everyday life.

We take all of ourselves on the journey, all parts and all burdens.

All of you is welcome, and all of you must be included.

If you’re serious about self-transcendence, then you must ironically focus on your ego development.

You need a stronger ego,
