The Quick Fix Doesn't Exist

I’ll say it simply: there is no tool, teacher or therapy which can grace all aspects of your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual complexity at the same time with ultimate and irreversible healing effect.

There are no quick fixes for complex trauma, and even the most transformative therapies require multiple months of consistent application - please be wary of teachers who sell you otherwise.

Don’t believe the pageantry of social media catharsis.

Screaming and sobbing on the yoga mat is an eye-catching aspect of the healing journey, but dramatic breakthroughs are quickly forgotten without sustained and systematic transformation over multiple years.

Emotions are important, and you shouldn’t avoid feeling your feelings, but release and restructuring are not the same thing.

Consider the difference of these three statements:

- Making your bed isn’t the same as changing your mouldy mattress.

- Painting your room isn’t the same as replacing the dry-wall.

- Opening a window isn’t the same as emptying the boxes in your basement.

If you’re committed to doing your healing work, please don’t place too much emphasis on the kinds of ‘healing breakthroughs’ which you see plastered across social media.

You need to become a student of multiple theories and therapies, each of which will support you at a different stage of the healing process. There are no shortcuts, and this process takes time.

Focus on the foundations,
